Does the tanning lotions work or do they make your skin orange? (i cant go to a tanning salon)?

im need a tan badly. when i tan in the sun i get sunburned plus it is winter so i can't. help!Does the tanning lotions work or do they make your skin orange? (i cant go to a tanning salon)?
You really have to know what you are doing. I suggest exfoliating every inch of your body that you plan to tan. If you are tanning your face, buy the kind of lotion meant especially for your face. If there are any salons around you that offer it, I would recommend getting it airbrushed by a professional. HOWEVER, I would look for references because the quality can vary greatly. If you decide to do it yourself, start with a shade very close to your own. Then you can get darker gradually. Some people have found that mixing the tanning lotion with water-based body lotion makes it easier to apply the tanning lotion evenly.

Good Luck and if it comes out horribly, exfoliating your skin with baking soda and water will slowly fade the tan.Does the tanning lotions work or do they make your skin orange? (i cant go to a tanning salon)?
When they first came out they weren't very good at providing a natural brown color and often came out looking orange or blotchy.

Anymore, most are pretty good.

My number 1 pick is Clarin's self tanner, which can only be purchased at Clarin's boutiques. It is awesome and has a great color, but it's expensive.

My next pick: Banana boat brand. Much cheaper- can be found at Wal-Mart or wherever.
get a good one

it works
some do yes, but normally the cheap ones. beyond bronze %26amp; st tropez are both good quality tanners that are used by many celebrities which have a much browner undertone than some of the cheaper makes, although for the winter you don't want to look too unnatural so why don't you try one of the gradual tanners which is out there atm, such as johnsons holiday skin. if you do want to prevent yourself from going orange then don't lather on a load at one go. just keep building up day by day to acheive the colour that you want, this will also prevent streaks (:
dont get any kind of quick tan made easy stuff it never works...um...why can't you go to the tanning salon? but sum lotions and things are actually pretty good or so i've heard
try loreal sublime bronze for medium natural tan, isn't orange.
remember to get a good self tanner and to exfoliate before using.
the brand is the key to a good self-tanner.

i can go to a tanning salon if i wanted, but i dont because i use this:

its amazing!

hope this helped%26lt;3
It all depends on the brand. Neutrogena is good...as long as you don't get the ultra one. Mystic tans work pretty well too.
Most self-tanners nowadays aren't ';orange'; as is the stereotype, unless you use the wrong shade or totally overdo it!

For winter, I suggest a gradual tan like Jergens ';Natural Glow';. It starts off very subtle, but if you re-apply every day it will get a nice natural non-orange tan! You can't go wrong. It comes it three shades, make you sure you pick the one closest to your current skin color! It also comes in face, firming and express versions.
